What is the Philippines Sustainable Finance Taxonomy?
The Philippines Sustainable Finance Taxonomy Guidelines (SFTG) is a classification system that identifies environmentally sustainable economic activities. It was developed collaboratively by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Insurance Commission (IC) to drive transparency in sustainable finance.
What are the environmental objectives covered by the Taxonomy?
The Taxonomy covers three main environmental objectives: Climate Change Mitigation (EO1), Climate Change Adaptation (EO2), and Transition to a Circular Economy (EO3). Each objective has specific technical screening criteria that activities must meet to qualify as sustainable.
What is the difference between Green and Amber activities?
Green activities are those that make a substantial contribution to environmental objectives and do no significant harm (DNSH) to other objectives. Amber activities are transitional or enabling activities that support the shift toward sustainability but do not yet fully meet Green criteria.
